Whether you’re looking to generate rental income, create space for family, or build a flexible living arrangement for aging parents or adult children, ADUs offer a smart, lasting investment. With recent changes to state laws, it’s easier than ever to build an ADU—but the process can still feel complicated and overwhelming. Many homeowners struggle to get clear answers on cost, timing, and what’s actually required to get started. That’s where we come in. Our goal is to take the stress and uncertainty out of the process. We’ve developed a simple, step-by-step system that helps you understand exactly what to expect—so you can make confident decisions, plan your budget, and bring your ADU project to life with clarity and peace of mind.

CONSTRUCTION OF THE STRUCTURE ITSELF:

  • The construction of the ADU you choose to build

Fleming ADUs: the five steps

STEP 1: CHOOSE YOUR PLAN (one week)

  • Follow the webpage to make all of your ADU selections and determine the price of your building

  • We will contact you and schedule a free on-site visit

STEP 2: MEET YOUR BUILDERS (one week)

STEP 3: SHOULD I BUILD THIS (four weeks)

  • Fleming ADUs compiles site feasibility report

STEP 4: PROJECT APPROVED (10-20 weeks)

  • Project begins

  • Complete site specific plans to include all plans and necessary supporting documents

  • Plans are submitted

  • Permit is issued

STEP 5: GOING VERTICAL (15-20 weeks)

  • Construction of ADU

  • Contact our office and we will be happy to walk you through the process. Despite not having the pre-approved program, we have three plans available from Fleming ADUs for submittal as well as purchasing any of the 9 pre-approved plan sets from the designer and turning them in for your project. The only difference being there will be an additional wait time for plan check and approval.

  • Absolutely! Fleming Construction Group is a full design-permit-build construction company. Please contact our office and we would enter into a standard owner-contractor contract, starting with a site visit, design, and building a permit set for submittal. Selections and design would be completely up to you.

  • At this time we do not but we have preferred lenders which we can put you in contact with.
